Hey there… thanks for stopping by!
I’m Lauren. An elder millenial/oldest daughter/child of the ‘80s and ‘90s who has learned to embrace all of the (ahem, accurate) stereotypes that come along with those descriptors.
My childhood was spent here in the Pacific Northwest and as a high school graduate I ran as far away as possible for college seeking independence and new experiences. Boston served me well for seven years and two degrees but the allure of year-round sunshine and beaches sent me to San Diego for the next decade.
In San Diego I deepened my love for yoga and trail running and found my loves in the form of my dogs and husband. I also discovered the power of community, connection, and embracing new and exciting experiences (as one does in their 20s and 30s).
The call of the mountains was strong, however, and my family and I moved back to the northwest in 2019. The offer from my parents to learn the business of the winery they started while I was in college helped that decision as well.
And we’ve been here since! Weathering the pandemic, growing the Bateaux Cellars community, and planting (literal and figurative) seeds for the future.
At some point during that journey, I discovered that life is much more full, bright, and interesting when you experience it.
Sure, you can read about things, look at photos, or watch other people’s videos - I do these things too - but we all know that there’s nothing like being in the room.
I believe that experiencing something firsthand changes you. Feeling something in your body, tasting something on your lips, viewing something with your eyes, or connecting with someone face to face will leave an imprint on your life.
These moments and memories are what fill us up as human beings.
And I hope to share a few of those life snapshots with you - whether its through a yoga class, a wine experience, or by welcoming you to one of our beautiful cabins.
