Like a True Millennial…
It’s been a while since I’ve had a website. And it’s been even longer since I’ve had a blog. But like a good millennial, I keep coming back to the good, old fashioned form of the internet.
Social media and video content has taken the space that was occupied by blogging and while short-form content can be fun to make, being able to share concepts, ideas, or information in a longer, written format has always been more my speed.
For a while I bridged this gap with an e-mail list but lord knows we all hate subscribing to e-mail lists.
So maybe a blog is where it’s at. You can come here on your own terms, scroll at your leisure, click through to links (or don’t), and binge this content in the way that feels best to you.
I envision this space being one where I share wines I’m drinking, wine information, the best snacks to pair with said wines, and links to other content and content creators that are doing wine well. I’m also hoping to sprinkle in some movement related fun - yoga sequences, songs I can’t stop putting in playlists, and other forms of movement and exercise that are supportive to me (and maybe you too). As we get going on cabins here at Bateaux, you’ll get building updates, come on thrifting adventures with me, and observe the process of designing and outfitting these beautiful spaces.
And, of course, you’ll find links and information for signing up for courses, planning events, or collaborating together.
So let’s start this first one off with a bang and give ya a little bit of everything:
WWID: What Would I Drink? Currently, I’m really into Orange Wines (aka Skin Contact Wines). These are wines made with white grape varietals but made in the fashion of a red wine. What does that mean? The grapes are harvested, run through a de-stemmer, and then transferred to their container for fermentation. The are allowed to undergo fermentation with their seeds and skins (just like black grapes do to make red wine). Once fermentation is complete, the juice is pressed off of the skin and into storage containers. This process gives this wine not only it’s orange-y color but also body and tannin from skin contact. My favorite recently? The Puppet Skin Contact Wine from the Central Coast of California. It’s a lovely blend of Grenache Blanc, Pinot Gris, Grenache Gris, Orange Muscat, and Chenin Blanc.
2. On Repeat: What am I Replaying in Yoga Playlists? I’m giving you two recommendations today - one that I’m sure you’re familiar with and one you probably haven’t heard. Let’s start with the obvious: Too Sweet by Hozier. This song is fucking everywhere and for a good reason. The other? Damn by Nat Lefkoff. It’s a groovy one.
We did it, y’all. We wrote our first blog post. Now I’m smart enough not to promise anything at any regular intervals. But check back here occasionally to see what’s going on. Deal?
xoxo
